Flange size

Did you know that using the standard flange accessory that comes with your store-bought pump could be making pumping less productive and injuring your breast? It is important to understand that pumps are most effective when the flange accommodates your individual breast anatomy.

What is a good fit? The nipple should be moving freely through the tunnel of the flange, not rubbing the sides (too small) or pulling your areola into the flange (too large). With the perfect fit, you will experience a more comfortable session every time and likely notice more milk production.

The Refrigerator Hack

One of the most dreadful parts of pumping is constantly washing breast pump part. Storing pump parts in a sealed gallon Ziploc bag in the refrigerator between pumping sessions can eliminate the hassle of washing them each time. After your final pumping session of the evening, you can properly wash and sanitize pumping parts. Properly store those parts each day in your refrigerator and pumping becomes a breeze!

The Funnel Hack

We’ve all done it. Tired from a middle of the night pumping session, while transferring milk from the bottle to a storage bag, that beautiful sought after liquid gold spills. It can be devastating, especially if you are struggling with milk production. To make transferring the milk easier, use the flange from your pumping session, place inside the storage bag, pour the milk into the flange, and WA-LA! An effortless, spill free milk transfer.

Purchase a Pumping Bra

Quit wasting time sitting there holding your pump, purchase a pumping bra! This hands-free undergarment allows you to be more productive and multitask. Whether it be conquering that pile of clean laundry that just keeps getting bigger, responding to work related emails, or catching up on some leisure reading; this will enhance your pumping experience and begin to bring more fulfillment to pumping. Not only are you collecting more nutrients for your beautiful baby, but you are also catching up on important tasks. You go mama!

Always have back up parts!

It is helpful to keep a pair of back up pumping parts wherever you may be spending additional time outside of the home. For working mamas, find a place at the office to store extra pumping parts. It’s not uncommon to leave a flange, pumping bottle, or a storage bag behind. Choosing to store a set of back up parts and extra storage bags ensures you don’t have to worry once you’re set up for a pumping session if you accidentally left something behind at home.
